The Commercial Hotel Barellan is much more than a place for a cold drink. It’s a local meeting place, accommodation provider, restaurant, function venue and an important part of the Barellan community.

Country Media Co worked with the Commercial Hotel to design and develop a new website that better reflected the personality of the pub while making it easier for locals and visitors to find the information they need.

The goal was to create a website that felt professional, welcoming and unmistakably country — without losing the genuine, relaxed personality of the Commercial Hotel.

The website needed to bring all of the hotel’s offerings together in one easy-to-navigate place, including:

A major part of the project was developing website copy that sounded like the Commercial Hotel — friendly, straightforward and welcoming.

Rather than using generic hospitality wording, the content was written specifically for a rural hotel and its customers, while also incorporating SEO considerations to help people searching for accommodation, dining, functions and things to do in Barellan find the business online.

Designed for Locals & Visitors

The Commercial Hotel serves two very different audiences: the local community who already know and love the pub, and visitors who may never have been to Barellan before.

The website was designed with both in mind.

Visitors can quickly understand what the hotel offers, where to eat, where to stay and how to get in touch, while locals have an easy place to find current information about the pub, events and functions.
